This is a talk otherwise called “Some reflections on creative practice”, which I made for Ashley Jane Lewis’s class NMA107 Creative Processes, in October 2025.
In the 33-minute video, I introduce myself and some of the things I like to do. Then I turn to the question, which Ashley wanted me to address, of “Why do you enjoy creativity and making things?”, but I immediately switch to the wider question – the question my book Making is Connecting is all about – which is “Why does *anyone* enjoy creativity and making things?”.
Then I talk about the question, “What is art for?“, before going back to my own answer about “Why do you enjoy creativity and making things?”, and then talking about how this is a form of research – practice-based research – and some bits of general creativity advice.
