This is a list of all my research projects funded by external organizations such as the UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC), and Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC). You can also view my complete list of publications.

Amplify Podcasting Summer School, awarded $22,250 from the SSHRC Connection Grant program. Hannah McGregor of Simon Fraser University was the PI; I was a Co-I, 2023–24.
Rethinking Creativity in and after the COVID-19 Pandemic, awarded $129,334 from the SSHRC Insight Grant program, 2021–24.
Together Apart Conference on DIY spaces and Cultural and Creative Third Places, awarded $14,430 from the SSHRC Connection Grant program. Louis-Étienne Dubois of Toronto Metropolitan University was the PI; I was a Co-I, 2021.
Media Literacy Education: Enhancing Curriculum and Teaching Practice, awarded $24,635 from the SSHRC Connection Grant program. Miglena Todorova of University of Toronto was the PI; I was the Co-I, 2019.
Digital DIY, awarded a total of €2,081,769 (value to UoW €223,929 (=£176,000)) from EU Horizon 2020 – Research and Innovation Framework Programme. Led by Università Carlo Cattaneo (LIUC), Italy, with several partners including the Free Knowledge Institute and the Design School of Politecnico di Milano, 2015–17.
Digital Folk: Digital Media in Folk Arts Participation, awarded £199,964 (value to UoW £28,508) from the AHRC Research Grants Scheme (Ref: AH/L014858/1). Simon Keegan-Phipps of University of Sheffield was the PI; I was the Co-I and mentor, 2015–17.
Advancing Social Media Studies, awarded £146,000 (value to UoW £68,000) from STINT (Sweden). Collaboration with Prof Simon Lindgren of Umeå University, Sweden, 2015–2018.
Digital Engagements: Online Exclusion and Social Capital, awarded £340,823 from the AHRC Research Grants Scheme (Ref: AH/H038736/1), 2010–14.
